Shuenisya, which is a comic book publisher company apologized for the problem involved with “My Hero Academia”, which was famous comic series at Feburary 7th. The company was criticised because there is one character whose name is Shiga Maruta, that reminds some people of the past tragedic history. They said that they apologized deeply for making some people in China and other countries depressed.
Shiga Maruta was a doctor of a bad organization, that makes cyborgs secretely. Before World War Ⅱ, unit 731 Japanese army conducted human experimentation. The subjects were called Maruta. Some people expressed critics online. The company changed the character’s name.
Horikoshi Kouhei said that Maruta came from the character’s fatty, “Marumaruto” in Japanese and Shiga came from Shigaraki, which is other rival name. He insisted that he did not intend to hurt readers’ feeling and promised not to repeat the same incidents again.
The official site, Shukan Shonen Jump, said that author and editorial team did not intend it. Shueisha made comments that they should discuss the expressions prior to publish and keep on making efforts to learn history and culture for making their comics loved by a lot of readers.
In the comic series, there are a lot of characters who have their own unique points. Deku, the main characters, who did not have any uniqueness, made efforts and try to defeat the evil organization with friends. The story was called “Hero Aca” and loved by people all over the world.
